use your time effectively
Don't spend all day, every day trying to find work. Allocate a fixed amount of time each day for CV writing, scanning job sections, writing application letters and so on.
You will work far more effectively if you spend a maximum of 3 to 4 hours a day searching for a job.
Try not to get annoyed if you've sent out many letters and had no replies. Sometimes you just have to be patient - particularly at interviews.

Take a step back for a moment. With a little research you can work out which are the best companies and agencies to contact.
Go to your local library and look at the last 12 months newspapers. It's amazing but you will see jobs re-advertised by companies over a period of months. You can also identify the agencies which are advertising for your type of work on a regular basis.

Send your CV to all the people that you have had dealings with, and ask them to hand it on to anyone who might need your skills. Don't build up high hopes - just plant seeds.

When responding to a job advertisement send a letter and CV that are both short, to the point and well written - this is the employer's first impression of you.
Letters should be no more than 1 page long, divided into about 3 paragraphs.
Where specific experience is asked for, make sure you give it. Read the adverts carefully and respond accordingly.
Get a friend to check each letter for spelling, grammar and sense. Make sure it is the best you can do.
